The Last Mile of Premium IOL Value

Between a well-engineered IOL and a patient who chooses it, there is a chain of translation — and every link in that chain can silently drain value.

Strategic Advisor in Premium IOL Adoption

A premium IOL is the product of years of optical engineering and clinical research. Yet the value it delivers in the market is not determined by its engineering. It is determined by how well that value survives the journey from manufacturer to clinic, from clinic to surgeon, from surgeon to patient.

Clinical differentiation is not patient-perceived value

Clinical differentiation lives in aberrometry, MTF curves, and published outcomes. Patient-perceived value lives in something simpler: 'Will this make my life better in a way I can feel and understand?' When a clinic cannot translate the first into the second, the technology's real advantage is lost exactly where it matters most — in the consultation room.

Designing for the last mile

The last mile is a design problem. It is about the language patients actually use, the narrative that makes a trade-off understandable, and a decision environment that reduces the fear and overload that push patients toward the default. Brands that invest in this last mile — not just in the technology itself — are the ones whose products achieve the adoption their clinical evidence already justifies.
